Management Accounting: A Cases Approach is an ideal companion for students who want to ensure they understand theory, know how to apply it, and who want to see management accounting in a real-world context.  The book aims to show what managers need when solving daily problems in management accounting.

The book contains basic theory, but does not specifically focus on advanced theory. The book sets management accounting in a real, practical setting, and is a great help to students who want to work on real accounting challenges.

It is exceptionally well suited for Master’s programs and Management training programs where participants need to see the usefulness of analysis.

The book contains over 40 cases highlighting problems and challenges management accountants will meet.  There are simple cases as well as advanced ones. Most of the cases are simplified versions of typical real cases. They are ordered by subject matter such as:

·         Budgeting and planning

·         Cost accounting

·         Internal transfer pricing

·         Corporate capital investment decisions

There are also a number of advanced cases dealing with several of the above areas at the same time.

 

Jan Bergstrand has a PhD in Management Accounting from the Stockholm School of Economics. He was a full-time consultant in Management Accounting, based in Stockholm, for many years. He has taught Management Accounting at Stockholm School of Economics since 2001. Since 1989 he has also been a part-time adjunct professor in Management Accounting and Control at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, Norway.
